Measuring
for a Hat
It
is not the easiest task to fit a hat without the customer at hand, but carefully
measuring as suggested below can be a great help. Let me know if you would like
the hat on the snug or loose side. How the hat should fit also varies with
style, of course. Between you and I, we can surely make this work !
1) Use a measuring tape, or if you do not have one of these, simply use a
piece of string, measure and put the string next to a yard stick. 2) Measure
around your head about 3/4 of an inch above your ear where your hat will be
worn. Measure parallel to the floor for a pillbox style (A), and, tip the tape
from the forehead to almost the nape of the neck for a cloche style (B). 3) Pull
the tape tight to measure within 1/8". 4) Now
measure from the top center of your head to your eyebrow or where you would like
the edge of the hat to rest on your forehead. This is the depth of the hat. 6.) The
chart below will determine your hat size. INFANT
