Hats~ Made in Maine Miniature Dolls & Vintage Textiles
|
Miniature Dollhouse Dolls After retiring, I began dressing miniature dollhouse dolls, using only vintage textiles. On this site you will see examples in the "Doll Gallery" of some of the finished, dressed, dolls. I find the vintage fabrics well-suited to dressing these little treasures. If I cannot find the right piece of vintage fabric, I then look to the newer, but natural fiber, fabrics. The scale of not only the pattern in the fabric, but also the thread count and weave must be the right scale , also. It certainly makes a difference in the finished piece. I purchase most of my dolls-to-dress from a terrific doll maker, Pat Boldt. I just feel that the fine features and natural painting of her faces best suit the style of doll that I am drawn to work on. The dolls come ready to put together, wig, and dress. So, when finished, I have wigged and dressed her with stockings or socks, shoes, undergarments, slip, petticoat if needed, and outfit.....possibly a hat, too ! They are such fun ! So, whether you purchase a doll that I have already designed myself, or would like to pick a doll from Pat's very large collection, or have a doll that you would like dressed, it will be a fun experience for both you and I....... I PROMISE !
These is a sampling of the Miniature Dolls that I have wigged and dressed. They have all gone to other homes..... Please click on each individual doll to see LARGER VIEW.... Thanks....
They are all in 1:12 scale, which means that each inch equals one foot in "real life"... or... a doll that is meant to be the example of a 5 ft. woman would measure 5 in. tall.
